I traveled to Wellington, Florida, at the start of March to attend the Equine Photography Retreat and learn new ways to better serve my portrait clients.

I also got to check off a huge personal bucket-list item: photographing horses on the beach!

I’ll never forget wading barefoot into the ocean and feeling the waves splash up past my knees as I clicked away to capture the stunning scene unfolding in front of my camera.

The experience pushed me to try new angles and work with different styles of light, and I’ll always remember the feel of my toes in the sand or how my cheeks hurt from laughing alongside an incredible group of likeminded, horse-loving photographers.

Next time you get the chance to do something you’ve only dreamed of—whether that’s with your horse or the rest of your life—I hope you’ll take it. I can promise you’ll never forget the experience!
