Have you ever been told you’re impossible to shop for? Or do you draw a blank when your loved ones ask for ideas?
Personally, I have a very long wish list…of highly specific horse items that require more research and sizing (and savings) before I’m ready to buy. Not exactly clueless-husband or surprise-present friendly.
Sure, you could just resign yourself to another year of thoughtful-but-cringey horse trinkets (yes, it’s the thought that counts! …too bad some Anthropologie designer thought that’s how hocks are supposed to look)
OR you could send your loved ones this blog full of gift ideas you’re sure to love:
Show Stopper Gifts
Horse & Rider Portrait Session
Give the gift of unforgettable memories. Better than a gift card, the RGP Welcome Box is an exciting, tangible way to deliver the surprise news! Gift recipients enjoy priority booking on my 2023 schedule; a confirmed date is not required when booking sessions as a gift. Sessions start at $645; contact me to discuss gifting a session.
Big Present, Tiny Box
I’ll never forget being 7 years old and discovering I was half-leasing my favorite lesson horse; my mom found a similar-colored Breyer model horse to hide beneath the Christmas tree!
If you’re gifting something your recipient will need to customize—like a saddle, show clothes or new boots—or something larger like a horse (!!), you can still have fun with the gifting process! Purchase a model horse version of the item to wrap up, and include a special note explaining the larger gift.
This will vary in price and level of detail, search “Model Horse Tack” or “Model Horse _____” (Western saddle, boots, etc)
Custom Gifts
Gallery Canvas
So many clients dream of artwork in their home but never find the time! Together we can coordinate to finally get her horse on your walls—using special mock-up software, we’ll work to ensure you gift the perfect canvas size for her space! Contact me to get started.
Heirloom Memory Box
The perfect way for your loved one to enjoy every image from their portrait session! Memory boxes are included with RGP’s 2022–2023 Signature and Premier sessions or $350 each; contact me to order from a past session.
Custom-Painted Model Horse
Great option, especially for Paint Horse lovers! The following makers come recommended from an avid model horse collector (please still do your own research):
Bridletree Studios
Darynn Bednarczyk
Katherine Bone
Stocking Stuffers
Canter Culture Candles
I love these candles so much, I gift them to all my clients! Great scents and sassy names make these candles a great way to make your whole house smell like the barn (in a good way).
Blue Ribbon Beauty
Marketed as The first and only equestrian color cosmetics brand on the market. Plus, names like pretty mauver and cherry bay? Can’t go wrong with an excellent horse pun.
Milton Menasco
Everything this creator makes screams Horse Girl Energy, so it’s worth scouting the whole site for ideas. My favorite are her “itty bitty pony” charms!
Dreamers & Schemers Boot Socks
You can never go wrong with boot socks, and these cute designs are the best!
In Gate Goods
Created by a fellow equine photographer, In Gate Goods has perfected the art of creating clever equestrianisms. Your rider will love journaling in a notebook matching her horse’s coat color, sending notes on the perfect stationery set, or decorating her favorite Stanley water cup with clever stickers.
Practical Gifts

Gear Storage (option 1 | option 2)
Unglamorous but highly useful, quality storage items—such as saddle bags, blanket storage, or garment bags—are gifts she’ll appreciate for years to come.
Pay Her Vet Bills
This one’s only partially a joke. Unglamorous? Yes. Appreciated? Absolutely. Expensive? Very.
